Cheezburger fans- do we have a treat for you today. It's not often that we get an up close and personal look at the deep sea and the creatures that call it home! Today, we came across an Imgur thread that will change all of that.

Sea Cucumber

"A holothurian, or sea cucumber. Luckily unrelated to the vile and hated land cucumbers, the sea cucumber spends its day trying to lure sailor to their doom with its curvaceous form. Also eating dirt and pooping dirt."

"A burrowing anemone. This dive was at approximately 2400-2500 meters (2184-2275 washing machines), and started along a flat plain, then ascended a remarkably steep, almost vertical, cliff."

"Some strange holes from some burrowing creature, there was speculation but nothing conclusive at the time. I actually included this because I wanted to point out the dark coloration on all the hard surfaces you see is a chonky manganese deposit. In more rubble-y areas over time it cements fine particles together. It can make collecting a rock sample particularly difficult."

"A brittle star hanging out with another gorgonian. For those asking, I am not involved with the Okeanos, just a fan of the live stream for quite a few years now. I almost joined the science chat to try and help annotate a few years ago but I very much doubt they need my amateur help."
