Many of us have had storied careers on social media, and this usually means that we've indulged in some form of oversharing now and then. Heaven knows what doomed evolutionary compulsion makes us want to give intimate and sometimes painful details of our lives to people on the internet, but it's a very common thing to do.
However, it's easy to feel like this can go too far. This was recently pointed out by @melodawgs, who was left speechless by a video that landed on her For You Page on TikTok. The screenshot appears to show a woman participating in the longstanding "You think you can hurt me?" trend, where TikTokers share the experiences that have toughened them towards future struggles. In the video, she mournfully stares into the camera as the text explains the tragic death of her boyfriend while she was pregnant with their first child.
Many other Twitter users also didn't know what to think about such a shocking admission made in a seemingly light-hearted way. While we might be able to commend this woman's bravery, there's something kind of uncomfortable about the way in which she shares it.
