Originally bred for illegal sports, these cute pups have ended up as one of the most popular dog breeds for families, apartment dwellers, and even mascots! Bulldogs, or as I like to call them–gnocchi with legs, may look mad and aggressive but they are really softies on the inside and out. Don't let the intimidating underbite fool you. Just taking a handful of one of their many wrinkles is like squeezing a stress ball.
I bet you think you may know a lot about these pudgy doggies, as they are one of the most well-known dog breeds– BUT you learn something new every day and hopefully, that moment is now. Enjoy this week's collection of fun facts. I promise you there is no BULL involved and it is definitely woof-it.
I don't love this fact, but it's important to acknowledge the history behind the breed. This "sport" has been long outlawed, and for good reason. Now, we can just enjoy the cuteness of bulldogs and know they will never be subjected to evil again. I mean look at them!!! They deserve the world!
While it's not a regular practice in animal medicine, it is pretty common for this dog breed. Anything to keep the mama and baby healthy, ammiright? I bet all veterinarians in the UK have performed a bulldog c-section.
