Macho Man Randy Savage Gives Wholesome Answer to the Question 'Does Macho Man Ever Cry'?

It's no secret that boys are often taught from a young age that it's a sign of weakness to cry, and that they shouldn't show their emotions. This toxic masculinity is dangerous and perpetuates stereotypes that society should have left behind long ago. As it becomes more acceptable for men to show their vulnerability, it's easy to forget that even thirty or forty years ago, there were some figures who actually promoted healthy emotional expression. And thanks to a video that has recently resurfaced on Twitter, we now know that one of these people was no other than Macho Man Randy Savage, one of the biggest WWE wrestling stars in the eighties and nineties.

In 1992, the gravelly-voiced, flamboyantly dressed wrestler was interviewed by the legendary Arsenio Hall, who asked Savage whether or not Macho Man ever cries. His wholesome answer to the query is nothing less than heartwarming.

Macho Man doesn't even hesitate to confirm that he does, in fact, cry. And he doesn't stop there. He goes on to say that it's okay for men to show every kind of emotion.

"I've cried a thousand times, I'm gonna cry some more. But, I've soared with eagles and slithered with the snakes and everywhere in between and I'm gonna tell you something right now: There's one guarantee in life and that is that there are no guarantees, yeah."

It's a very Macho Man answer, and one that we can't help but celebrate. And it seems like the people of Twitter, who made this video viral, feel the same.

Here's to you, Randy. May “Macho Men” everywhere continue to defy stereotypes and destroy toxic masculinity in the process.
