Rude Hair Stylist refuses To Cut Client's Hair Short Because She Says It Will Look Ugly

It can be really frustrating when people insist that 'the customer is always right,' especially in the service industry, but at the end of the day, a business like a hair salon should probably be cutting people's hair exactly how they ask for, right? This is the question Redditor u/chopitoffalready posted to r/AmITheAsshole to ask whether they were in the wrong for leaving their appointment with her longtime hairstylist without paying because they wanted a pixie cut and the stylist didn't want to cut her hair so short.

It's not really a hair stylist's place to decline a haircut, is it? Some Redditors in the comments did point out that they've known hairstylists and barbers to decline super short haircuts in the past because they've had customers come to regret the super-short look and badmouth their services rather than admit that they made the wrong decision.

    Font - My stylist was shocked, but then she made a joke like "Oh no, this is breakup hair, isn't it?" I was weirded out by that but I confirmed that yes, actually, my boyfriend of a year and I broke up a few weeks ago, but it had nothing to do with my hair.

    Font - Honestly I was pretty offended at that. As a grown woman whether or not I regret a hairstyle down the line is none of her business, as long as she does the cut well. She told me the shortest she would go was a long bob, and so I told her that I would be leaving, as that's not what I want.

    Font - She tried to get me to pay the "cancelation fee", as now she was going to lose the 2 hours booked, and what I would have paid. I told her that wasn't my problem, and I left anyways. On my way out, she told me I wasn't welcome back.
