This is an excellent question, and we're pretty sure that if a scientist weighed in on this the answer would probably be that it's because cats are smelly garbage babies who love chaos. Sorry for the people who have yet to discover this about their cats, but don't say that we didn't warn you. Cats are basically domesticated trash pandas.
