Redditor u/Financial Bar8757 shared this notice that was posted in the coffee shop that they work at just before Christmas to the popular subreddit r/antiwork. Talk about petty manipulative tactics on the part of the employer. If I came into work and saw that message on the board I'd be looking for new work ASAP.
They had this to say about the notice:
"My store is a very kind store. My coworkers do the most to ensure that every customer feels very welcome. The "score" is based on a completely inaccurate system that is designed to make workers feel they need to work way harder. This is a job that pays not nearly a living wage. Being a nice employee is one thing, punishing us for a score that is completely inaccurate to the environment of the store, is completely out of line and evil." - u/Financial Bar8757
As commenters have already noted, there are so many things about this that do not line up. The manager claims that the problem is that the workers aren't engaging with the customer enough. Yet by cutting labor hours they are reducing the amount of time that their employees have to do that.
"Several (employees) call out on a consistent basis with no coverage", the sign reads. While also claiming that management will begin sending people home without coverage. It also states that employees can increase their hours by covering other employees' shifts. How about just employing and scheduling enough coverage that everyone else doesn't have to suffer if one person wants/needs time off?
There are so many things that are insane about this that unfortunately speak volumes about the current state of employment.
