How often would you say family members or friends fight over the names of pets? Sadly, we've seen wayyy too many stories of this nature all over the interwebz. Such as a pregnant woman who stole her sister-in-law's puppy name and then demanded the dog's name be changed, that story sure was packed with drama… Seems like if you find the perfect name for your pet kitten, puppy, or other awwdorable baby and you don't want anyone to use it then you should just keep it to yourself until drama-starting people are far away.
In any event, today we have another story of family drama due to relatives having no chill. The original poster adopted a dog, named it, and went about her life, only for her cousin to decide that that puppers name should actually be her unborn daughter's name. No big deal in theory, right? Unless it leads to an explosive fight… We won't spoil the rest of the story, but keep reading if you want to hear how it ends…
Ok, right off the bat we have a whole lot of questions. For one thing, who 'used' the name first? The baby, or the dog? And for another thing, how unique of a name is it? Because if it's something like Sarah then it really isn't necessary to gatekeep.
Ok, ok, the name is Isabella? We aren't pointing any fingers, people are allowed to feel upset or sad if someone "steals" a name, but that's like a super common name. You'll probably meet other kids with that name quite a lot, so if you want your daughter's name to be unique, maybe rethink it.
