'If Nancy and Steve get back together I'm suing': Video sparks debate with 'Stranger Things' fanatics on the love triangle between Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan

The radical sci-fi series Stranger Things instantly garnered a massive fan base that is very passionate about the characters and their lives. Ever since the first season, viewers of the multi-dimensional drama have picked out their favorite characters and stuck by their sides. The strong individual feminist Nancy, the popular lovable jerk Steve, and the mysterious weirdo Jonathan have all grown so much within the show. Having four seasons so far, that's given viewers plenty of time to grow with these beloved characters. 

So when one Stranger Things fanatic on TikTok called out Nancy for basically being a horrible girlfriend, things got heated within the fanbase.  

“Everyone who is talking about this is debating who deserves Nancy more, Steve or Jonathan and who's right for her and who should she pick."

“Did anyone ever stop to think whether Nancy actual deserves Steve?? Let me present my argument.”

“Was Steve sh*tty in Season 1? Yes, yes he was, he absolutely was. Did he also literally see a monster and find out about another dimension and run back into the house because he loves Nancy? Yes!…”

“Then in Season 2 they're at a party and he's like, ‘hey, babe, maybe you should stop drinking?' And she's like, ‘we’re BS, I hate you, I never even loved you. I don't even love you. We k*lled Barb.' And when Dustin was going to look for help, who did he find? He found Steve! Why did he find Steve? Cause Steve was going to apologize! For what?… Nothing. He was going to apologize because he did nothing wrong and you know what, he was going to apologize anyways because if he wanted to, he would, and he did.”

“And while he was going to apologize, what was Nancy doing? Jonathan! That's what she was doing. And still, STILL, Steve had the decency to realize what was going on between her and Jonathan and just let her go and just be like, ‘you know what, go be with him. I’ll babysit the kids.' He didn't even make her go through a breakup.”

“And now, 2 seasons later, he gives this monologue about how she's the one for him and she has the audacity to kiss Jonathan in front of him?! NO. I've always been indifferent about Nancy up until this season. F*** Nancy! Absolutely not. I do not hope that her and Steve get back together, not because Jonathan is better suited for her, but because she doesn't deserve him. Thank you.”

Though many agreed with her opinion of Steve being the one on top of this love triangle, many others did not.

Fans brought up reasons for each character why they do not deserve the other. Fans of Nancy say she was completely in the right with every choice she made. Fans of Steves are saying he's done so much for Nancy already with zero expectation of anything in return. And fans of Jonathan say he's doing his best for someone who is the trying to be a good partner and a father figure for his little brother. 

The debate continues online even beyond this now-viral TikTok. The argument will probably still continue no matter what the Duffer brothers decided to do with the romance drama in Season 5.
