How much do you spend on your pets? You don't have to answer, it's all good (although if you want to, feel free to tell us in the comments section below) but it goes without saying that it can be be difficult to put a price on our pets. What may feel expensive is going towards a living breathing thing, but also pets will not enjoy cashmere or a designer dog toy in the way that perhaps a hooman would, so there is a line at some point about what living expenses are reasonable.
The cost of caring for a pet also varies from country to country, and we've heard stories before about people who decided they simply didn't have the money to adopt another pet after doing the math. Today however we have a story about a woman living in Australia with four beloved pets, who spends $1,600 a month on them. This money, which in USD is around 1,100, goes toward health insurance for the four pets, an emergency fund for pet surgery, medication for an elderly dog, and high quality pet food for all four of the animals. Her fiancé told her she needs to cut back on costs, but this woman says she makes enough money to afford the costs and she doesn't want to cut back at all. Who is in the wrong here?
Hmm, we'll need to know more about the couple's financial situation to make a decision about this, it really seems like the situation could go either way. People are generally entitled to spend their money how they like, but when you have a partner or dependents, it can be an entirely different story.
Aww, it sounds like a beautiful family. It's nice that they're raising 4 pets together, that can be a lot for some people, but it seems to work great for them. Let's keep reading and hear where the conflict happened, it sounds perfectly fine so far, at least to us.
