American actor Nicolas Cage has built something of a reputation for being a bit of an eccentric over his forty year career. He's been married 5 times and named his son Kal-El after Superman. Even weirder, the brooding cult icon famously lost his fortune by buying up dinosaur skulls, shrunken heads and European castles. So it shouldn't be terribly surprising that Cage came out as a goth in a recent interview with Variety magazine.

While many headlines are focusing on the "I am a goth" comment, we're actually stunned by the entirety of his statement, which concerned another interview he had recently done with the Los Angeles times. In that conversation, Cage revealed that he's so goth he owns a pet crow. Much to our delight, he elaborated on it in his chat with Variety:
"Cage's pet crow is named Hoogan and lives in the actor's Las Vegas home inside a geodesic dome. According to Cage, "He has taken to calling me names…it's comical, at least, it is to me. When I leave the room, he'll say, 'Bye,' and then go, 'Ass.' Crows are very intelligent. And I like their appearance, the Edgar Allan Poe aspect. I like the goth element. I am a goth."
Looking at photos of Nic Cage over the years, it all makes sense. Hell, just look at his son. Ultimately, we don't really care which subculture Cage identifies with. We just care that he's living his truth. And inspiring lots of funny tweets like these.
@CaptainCokecan sweetly shared that "Nic cage news like this always makes me happy good for him out there living his best life."
"I served Nicolas Cage lunch when he was working at a pizza place in the mall as a teen, he was wearing a black trench coat with black dyed hair in 1990...goth icon"
Kind of looks like known abuser Marilyn Manson.
