When you marry someone, you're not really exclusively creating an eternal bond with them, 95% of the time, their family, specifically their parents, act as a nonnegotiable third party member to your marriage. Does that make tying the knot with your current partner sound any less appealing? Well, it's better to take that into consideration now... Before it's too late.
To be fair, however, if you have some hella thick skin, and can take unwarranted criticism very well, as long as you're confident about how you feel about your significant other, the two of you might be just fine.
It seems unfair that mothers-in-law are always depicted as villains in films, but, if you spend a day going through 'Am I The A**hole' threads on Reddit, it doesn't really seem too far off. What is up with this phenomenon? Do women suddenly turn evil the moment their child goes to the altar? We'd love to hear any theories. Until then, enjoy this invigorating AITA post.
