Another day, another bad Twitter take. It's amazing how confident some people are when expressing incredibly dumb opinions. Today's winner of the bold stupidity prize is Paul Hünermund, an assistant professor in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Hünermund managed to piss off a whole lot of Twitter users from the Big Apple with the above sentiment. "You never see old people in the streets of NYC" is a pretty bold statement. I've helped more old ladies with their groceries than I can count on two hands, and in most neighborhoods, Jewish grannies and grampies kvetching at the delicatessen (over bagels and lox) or McDonald's are a constant and comforting presence.
As one would expect, New Yorkers did not take kindly to this outlandish statement. One clever user simply called out "causal inference" expert's apparent departure from logic. Others took a less scholarly approach at shutting him down. As a Brooklynite, I love to see it.
