In this case, a woman's father repeatedly belittles her fiancé for working as a school art teacher, and after enduring one too many condescending remarks, she finally decides enough is enough. Refusing to sit through another dinner where his hurtful comments are covered up with the classic, overused two-word phrase, "I'm joking." So, she and her fiancé chose to leave the restaurant in the middle of the family meal.

Though her family is quick to defend her father, she's not interested in making excuses for someone who tries to reduce her partner's worth to a paycheck. Her fiancé intentionally chose a meaningful career he's passionate about, something she really admires, and something she knows deep down, her father was never brave enough to do himself.
