Kids do some pretty cruel things. And no parent wants to raise a future psychopath. The challenge is teaching them that their actions actually affect other people, and they're gonna be held accountable for those actions.
What is a fitting punishment for a kid who asks a a girl on a date as a joke? And how do you communicate to that kid that treating people like this isn't a good thing to do? This mom settled on him publicly giving his brand bike to the girl he tricked. It's definitely something he'll never forget, and there's certainly catharsis in seeing someone cry after being held accountable for their garbage behavior, but does something like this actually reach the kid? Or is he just learning to not get caught? The internet weighed in on whether or not this was a wise choice.
And finally, one interesting unanswered question might be "is this girl gonna ride the bike?" Like does she need a bike? Or is she just gonna have a "revenge bicycle" sitting in her room now to remind her that she was wronged?
