Don't judge a book by its cover, and don't judge a neighbor by what they're walking around yelling. That's what I learned this week on Reddit– because apparently lots of people out there have really strange pet names that, God forbid a pet should get lost, sound just a little off when they're being screamed around the neighborhood.
When you stop to think about it, this is actually some really solid advice! Haven't you ever been in public and heard someone shouting your name, before quickly finding out that they were yelling at their dog? Or what about those friends whose dogs only respond to nicknames? Can you imagine your friends yelling those nicknames all around their neighborhood? So while everyone wants their pet to have a unique, fun name, but as the post suggests– give them a name within reason.
The comments in this thread ranged from hilarious to mischievous and everything in between. For example– you can't imagine how many people have named their pets grandma and grandpa. A lot of comments in the thread were stories about, "Get grandpa off the roof," "Grandma peed on the rug again," and all manner of others just like it! Then, there was a whole faction of people who adore human names for dogs. There's another faction of people who aren't so fond of human names for dogs. There are dogs that only respond to nicknames, dogs that always respond to every name, and through it all there's a whole lot of laughs to be had. We went through and picked out our favorite answers from this hilarious thread, just for you! Check it out below!
Reddit user u/Duderino was the one who came up with this simple life pro tip. Their post became hugely successful, rising to get almost 35,000 likes, 3,500 comments, and loads and loads of awards! Here's my question though: where did u/Duderino learn this life pro tip? Do you think they might be one of these other commenters with these ridiculous pet names?
I actually loled when I read this– srsly. But actually, how great is it that this dog owner thought they had come up with a stylish, original, fitting name for their dog, only for them to be clowned by their friends like it's elementary school again! Don't get me wrong, I always loved playing Marco Polo, but it gets a little tiring being Marco after a while– and I can't imagine how this guy's dog feels!
