Shy And Fearful Dog Gets Rescued And Falls In Love With Her Gentle And Patient Humans

The world can be a scary place sometimes. Yet, just the comfort of a good treat from a good person in a good home can make all your troubles go away. Pups like three-year-old Eva know this exceptionally well and how it can soothe a hurt spirit.

Eva was taken into the Robins-Starr Humane Center at the SPCA in Richmond, Virginia, from their rural partners at the Prince Edward County Animal Control on January 7. Eva hasn't always known the comfort and love of a good home, and her demeanor told the tale when she arrived in Richmond.

Emily Neal, a volunteer with the SPCA, has been one of Eva's primary caregivers over the past couple of months and has gotten to know Eva well. "The first day she was in my office, I couldn't touch her," she said. Yet, it seemed that lots of attention worked its magic, and Eva's demeanor changed overnight.

Little more than 24 hours after Eva arrived, she looked as if she knew she was in good hands. Emily noticed the change right away. "On the second day, she was sitting in my lap," she explained.

As a very playful and curious pup, all Eva wants to do is watch the world go by. Eva doesn't like to be rushed. She needs reassurance that she's loved, and people need to have patience with a pup that's been through like Eva has in her short life. Right now, her world is small, but Eva is waiting for the day to build up the confidence to bond with even more loving people like Emily. Not to mention having access to all the treats she wants.

Eva is still waiting to find her forever home, a home that can bring her the stability she needs from pup parents ready to open their hearts to a young, four-legged friend. Everyone has a hero, and Eva needs one to guide her through the beginnings of a better life. She needs love, and so do you. So, are you that hero?
