Dating is hard. And now that things are dying down a little, Covid-wise, we expect the scene is going to get a whole lot crazier. While it's great that those romantic Zoom meetups are (mostly) a thing of the past, there were some perks to getting acquainted to a Tinder or Bumble date ahead of meeting them in person. Namely, being able to get a feel for the suitor's idiosyncrasies before having to get stuck on a date with them in real life. It's a lot easier to close the laptop on a doomed tryst than it is to just up and leave a dinner.
This week, Twitter user @sohosatan tweeted about how much she enjoys hearing about all the strange things men have done on dates with her friends. She shared an anecdote from a friend's date the prior evening, in which the friend excused herself to go to the restroom, and returned to find her companion had demolished an entire sushi roll from her plate. As infuriating, and frankly, odd, as the tale is, @sohosatan's tweet inspired stories of similarly mind-boggling acts from other perplexed women. While we do feel bad that these women had to deal with such crappy experiences, we need to agree with @sohosatan - it's so fun to hear the horror stories and feel like we've gone through our dating lives relatively unscathed.
