Crafty Doggo Figures Out A Way To Not Eat His Vegetables Yet Still Get A Treat

Stories about mischievous doggos are our favorite. There's just something about a ball of fur outsmarting a hooman that gets us every. single. time. 

For today's dose of puppy preciousness, we present to you a Reddit thread where u/DamnItCasey shares how his dog has been fooling him for what seems to be, quite a while a now. In the subreddit, users joined to comment and share their personal experiences of their puppers with vegetables. Some talk about the veggies their doggos like to eat, and others talk about the veggies that their doggos like to eat around. Whether they eat em or eat around em, the replies are priceless. 

On a real note though, vegetables aren't necessary for a dog's health, but they are recommended. Veggies have an immense reservoir of nutrients, vitamins, and all the goodies we humans desire and require. So why not train your pup to eat his greens as well? Some examples of dog-friendly veggies are kale, carrots, spinach, sweet potato, and cucumbers. Bone apple tité!

    Font - We sometimes feed our dog vegetables with his meal. Basically, what we eat and what is in season is what he gets. Carrots, celery, spinach, tomatoes, etc. Out of these, he absolutely hates celery BUT will eat them if you point at him and insist he eats his vegetables. After much encouragement he'll grudgingly eat his celery or take it into another room to slowly chew on. Afterwards, he gets a treat.

    Well, duh! How else is he going to feel, Casey? He went through all this trouble to strategically plan and execute a master plan where both parties are happy. You're happy he's eating his cellary and he's happy he's getting his treats. Sounds pretty fair to us…

    Font - 6oceanturtles · 1 day ago I have never had a dog who likes veggies. They would carefully lick the gravey off of the veggies from stew. Raw veg is equally wasted on them. Some do, some don't!

    And that's okay! Dogs don't need to eat vegetables all the time. It's important to remember that when it comes to training your pup to do anything at all, patience and communication are key. And the same goes for teaching them to eat their greens. We want them to associate vegetables and healthy food with positivity and yumminess. No bad vibes from the greenz

    Font - sarabrating · 2 days ago As many dogs love carrots I CANNOT convince my dog to eat them. I've tried them raw and roasted, peeled and unpeeled. Sometimes he's willing to mess with them JUST enough to make it gross and then I have to clean it up. He seems to not understand this is supposed to be a treat! What the heck!

    Font - A2ZKIRBY71 · 1 day ago I've gotten my doggie girl, Ziggy, to eat baby carrots microwaved for about 30 seconds to JUST soften them up. Then I let them cool. She gobbles them up. She won't eat them raw, but she will this way and they aren't fully cooked.

    Font - OnExtendedWings · 1 day ago disc dogs: Aussie | Aussie/Kelpie mix (CGC) Our non-mini Aussies have loved veggies too! I've only ever seen raw white mushrooms and iceberg lettuce rejected. Our first Aussie would break into our summer garden to help himself to cherry tomatoes! We'd know it happened when his white muzzle would be smudged with green from the plant leaves :)

    Font - redlapis · 1 day ago The only thing my dogs absolutely won't eat is spinach. There's some things they won't eat individually but will eat if it's in their meal, but they'll sit and take the time to pick out bits of wilted spinach. However, they will finish their meal, go and see the other has left a pile of something, and eat each others pile of left over spinach all giddy and excited, knowing they're doing something naughty. I call it a victory.

He usually gets a handful of chopped carrot but sometimes I just give him a whole one to watch him hold it in his paws and monch away. I think it's so weird haha. He's the first dog I've ever had that loves veg.
