Imagine it's girl's night. You and your girlfriends are out at the bar. Now, you've had a few drinks, a few flirts, a lot of laughs, and it's time to pay up. Only you've forgotten your credit card at home. Or have you? If you jolted up from your seat and muttered, "hell no—that's not like me," then you're likely the financially responsible friend in your group. You're the Reliable Ronda they have come to know you as, and it isn't a position to be mocked. Au Contraire! Before the Karen shade is thrown in your direction, please remember, this is a position of great power and potential. It is your time to shine since you've got the floor now. Still unsure? Read on to see if these signs point to you.
You're the one who's always got spare cash on you matter what the occasion. And coins! For some reason, you've all got singles floating somewhere in your handbag. Need coins for the vending machine? Or will a crisp dollar bill suffice instead? You'll likely have it on hand. Your friend's parking meter needs feeding, but you're fresh out of quarters? Say no more!
You always have your wallet on you. You know the exact dates each of your bills come in, and even the due dates to some of your friends' rent. Amateurs may think this eases your mind, but it often keeps you on the edge which may render in some less glamorous nervous habits, like checking your banking app every other day and an unhealthy amount of nail-biting.
You probably know long division like it's nobody's business and when it comes to tipping at a restaurant. All your friends turn to you for guidance. Because that's just the kinda gal you are. Sharp, beautiful, AND mathematical.
You have more than one savings account. "Just in case", you keep telling everyone, while possibly adding a, "You never know", with your arms thrown into the air in an emphasized gestured fashion. Speaking of accounts, you've gotten your hands on your own credit card as soon as possible to start building your rating and your heart belongs to at least two different banks.
First off, you've invested. It doesn't even have to be in a big company. Something small…anything. You know whose stock is up and whose is down and more importantly, you check up on that seed money often to see how your bundle of money-joy is doing.
You may just set up a tent and live in Target at this point because everything you need is there. The deals are reasonable, you'll stock up on sale items like your life depended on it, and just when you're about to shop 'til you drop, you may just put a few things back on the shelf because you also don't overspend or buy what is unnecessary.
Your friends come only to you for money advice. How do I heal my bad credit rating? What even is PayPal? Why is the European conversion so dang high? Which commerce is weak in comparison to the American dollar this week? You know it all!
Your work may not mean EVERYTHING to you, but it certainly means a great deal. And speaking of money, chances are you work in the finance field, to begin with. Perhaps slumming your way alongside your vigilant and competitive coworkers at some accounting firm, or even studying statistics while paying your retail worker dues as a cashier. You may not love the work, but you're fond of remaining busy and the stepping stones these jobs will provide you for the future.
You do social media for content creators. I know it, you know it, the grocer knows it. It's just your thing, even though it's not your steady stream of income, this line of work provides you with that extra cha-ching, while reiterating what a workaholic you are. So even if your Etsy shop hasn't been doing supremely well this month, you aren't too worried, because it's just a side hustle. And you can always add more side hustles to overcompensate.
