When they said we don't deserve dogs, they really meant it. And if you're reading this, you can probably relate. Whether you have a dog or had a dog, you never forget that type of love; 100% pure and wholesome. They become your entire world, your best friends, your babies for crying out loud.
While many pups are lucky enough to find their hoomans, unfortunately, that isn't always the case. Whether it's outside on the streets or inside a non-loving home, many have to suffer for their survival. Luckily though, many of these doggos do eventually end up finding a loving home. But when they do, it does come with its challenges.
With abuse comes trauma, and with trauma comes a lack of trust. If you've rescued dogs before, you may have an idea of what we're talking about. For today's doggo discussion, we present to you a Reddit thread where a fellow dog parent shares a heartwarming story about how his recently rescued pup showed first signs of trust. What follows after are the replies of other dog parents sharing similar experiences. Have a read, let us know what you think!
"He was so scared, but he trusted me and didn't try to bolt. When I finished cleanup and dried him up, I gave him an extra big hug. Now he's following me around like a baby bird."
Okay, we're not going to lie, this made us tear up a little. We're so glad this doggo found an amazing hooman who he can trust!
As you should! Can we all just stop for a second and admire this person's level of compassion, gentleness, and patience?
These are crucial when adopting or rescuing a pup. You have to understand that they may have been through some rough stuff, it's all about building a loving and trusting relationship.
