As a lover of all things culinary, I understand that not everyone is on my level. Geography, upbringing, and financial status are all things that affect food literacy, and to judge someone based on what they eat (or don't eat) is pretty unfair. I'm lucky to have grown up in a large city with foods from all over the world. That said, some instances of food-related ignorance still manage to boggle my mind. And today we can officially declare my mind boggled, thanks to a viral tweet from @wifeguyfieri.
The tweet features a video clip of popular YouTuber, TylerTube, discussing a mysterious vegetable he found at the supermarket. He holds his new discovery up to the camera, saying “I don't even know what this is,” adding that “it doesn't even look like a potato.” If he didn't know what, like, an eggplant was, that would be more understandable. But to see an all-American bearded dude marvel at a sweet potato is really something else. The tubers are almost as American as it gets - we're talkin' Thanksgiving staple.
The offending clip inspired quite an impressive response, with users popping into the replies to share their shock, horror, and sympathy, for the woefully ignorant YouTuber.

While some of the respondents accepted the video as truth, others were of the mind that it was an act of engagement baiting - a stance that OP quickly rejected.

Whatever the case, we're mostly disappointed that we couldn't see his reaction to some cooked sweet potatoes - not even in the full video. What a tease.
