Tumblr Rises To Explain The Rich, Flakey History Of Bread Fraud
Every day we're surprised to learn about minor features of everyday life that have their roots in ancient customs. It makes sense. Bread has been around for almost as long as lying, so naturally the people of the past had to come up with ways to prevent their precious bread from being tainted by lies and sawdust.
Here, Tumblr goes on to explain the historical significance of bread stamps, which very well could have been one of the better things about bread before it came sliced. It's always a good reminder that people who lived seemingly forever ago, while frequently shortsighted, ignorant, and violent, were also clever. And to be honest, they were probably about as shortsighted, ignorant and violent as people today.
