A bride told her fiancé that she disapproved of him honoring his dead son at their wedding by leaving an open seat because she was afraid of embarrassment in front of her family. She worried that they would think that her fiancé had lost the plot. Her fiancé even tried to compromise and offered to leave the last seat in the back row instead of the front seat as initially planned. She refused to compromise this way, and maybe it's time to call this wedding off.
The bride-to-be posted this topic to Reddit's rAITA subreddit to see whether or not she was wrong to tell her fiancé that he couldn't honor his deceased son in this way. She offered what she felt were strong justifications for her decision-making process and posted the topic with the title "AITA for telling my Fiance to get over himself?"
Commenters unanimously disagreed with her and told her that she was entirely in the wrong. They were sure to point out that leaving an open seat at an event to honor a loved one is extremely common and a great way to include the deceased in an event.
Hopefully, this bride changes her ways and learns to accept her fiancé's needs.
