Internet Steaming Over Employer's New Phone Policy in This Viral Thread
The internet has erupted in outrage over this employer's decision to instate a new phone policy where the workers have to relinquish their personal phones for inspection since they use them for "work-related things." Now, it's bad enough that they are forcing them to use their phone for work purposes… You should never have to own devices to complete your work (unless there is some specific scenario that necessitates that.) You would think that the more logical conclusion here would be to provide the workers with their own devices to do their job if they need to use those devices for work.
I was astounded the first time I had a job that required me to use my own phone for work. I had just come from a corporate position at a massive company and was shocked that my personal device was required to do my job. When the topic first came up and I asked about a work phone my manager just laughed and told me to buy a used iPhone myself if I didn't like it. I made a point of using it as little as I possibly could.
