Twitter Thread: Actually, Cats Can't Drink Milk, And Other Myths About Animals That People Believe

There are so many things about animals that we don't know, and that includes cats. You may think that you have your little feline completely figured out, but we promise you that you do not. For example, did you know that there was a study that proved that cats are less stressed when they have access to cardboard boxes? Like actually. And there was another study confirmed that cats do recognize their names but just prefer to ignore us. As if we didn't know that already, smh. And on a more wholesome note, there was a study that cats are not aloof and they actually do bond with their humans. 

But did you ever wonder why we believe certain things about cats that are not true? Things like: cats hate their owners and cats should be fed milk. Well, according to this twitter user who went viral, the reason might be that people are too affected by fiction. And after reading this thread, turns out that people believe a lot of things about cats and animals that are untrue.

    We remember the moment we realized this when we were first time cat owners. The vet was the one who had to warn us to not give our cats milk, and we were honest to god shocked. That is like- one of the major stereotypes about cats, it's the thing you see cats do in basically ever cartoon ever. We were shook and kind of still are.

    Sort of. Most cats are lactose-intolerant. Their digestive system cannot process dairy foods too well. It won't kill them to have a little milk, but it can certainly give them diarrhea and make them feel terrible. Most people should know this, and definitely all cat owners.
