Most of us are simple folk at heart. For all we surround ourselves with social niceties, societal concepts and different types of technologies, all we really want to do is fill ourselves up with as many of those beautiful little dopamine hits as we possibly can. For many of us, this starts to seem easier as the weather gets warmer, but that doesn't mean that a few backup options aren't needed now and then. When it comes down to it, a meme is the ultimate backup. When we need a small hit and there doesn't seem to be anywhere else to get it from, they're here to pick us right back up again. Memes come in all shapes and sizes, but their overall function remains the same. We want to have our entertainment any time, anywhere, and they fulfil this function admirably. No matter how complex they get, they appeal to our simple natures.
