A couple's wedding day is supposed to be their special day. Successfully arriving at the altar together is a pretty big deal, and therefore, we don't think it's selfish to say that your wedding day should be all about celebrating your love, and your love only. The types of people that would take someone else's wedding as an opportunity to propose (unless they received explicit permission from the bride and groom) are clearly attention-seekers. They could propose at any other point in time, yet they chose to make someone else's wedding about their own love. In today's 'Am I the A$$hole?' post, OP posted about how he spontaneously decided to propose to his girlfriend of 10 years when they were walking on the beach, waiting for his brother's wedding reception to begin. They're not big on romance, so the proposal was meant to be an inside joke between them. The issue is that his girlfriend decided to post the proposal on social media a couple of days later, and the bride and groom seriously weren't cool with it. What do you think? Scroll down for all the details before making a judgment call.
Generally, proposing at other people's weddings is considered to be tacky because it's supposed to be their special day, not yours.
Sounds like a lovely wedding thus far. Let's see what happens next.
