Maybe all the Return to Monke people are right, and the evolution of the human species has gone too far. It's estimated that in prehistoric times, we only worked three to five hours a day. Most of that was gathering berries and spearing fish that actually contributed to our survival. Nowadays, we're looking at an eight hour daily minimum, with many of us stuck in the kind of roles that are so useless we often struggle to describe what they even do. That's not to say that there aren't many benefits to modern life, but sometimes they seem like they're eclipsed by our frequently exhausting and toxic working culture. Work may not be terrible all the time, but the fact that we have found so many varied ways to complain about it is telling. No form of criticism gets this better than memes, and they're the most amusing about it, too.
