Elon Musk Supports Russia's Invasion of the Ukraine With Outdated Evidence, Gets Called Out By Experts and Enraged Commenters

The first thing they teach you about presenting an argument to win a case or to convince people to join your side is to bring forward compelling, irrefutable evidence. Well, it turns out, billionaire maniac Elon Musk missed that lesson on how to make educated arguments.

We have all seen Elon's crazy antics online. He's become known as the “Edge Lord' as well as a ‘Troll Master’. From attempting to buy Twitter, talking about some nonsense in space, and naming his child after a cyborg, he has always been known to push the boundaries in an attempt to get attention, control stocks, or maybe just to see if he can get away with it.

Recently, Elon stayed true to form. In the midst of Twitter agreeing to his purchase offer of $44 billion, Elon decided to take a wild unpopular stance against the disruptions in the Ukraine by inadvertently supporting the Russians. Nice. In response to Lindsey Graham claiming that Elon is making wild claims without evidence regarding the Russia/Ukraine drama, he literally responded with ancient “evidence” and proved her completely right.

Sure, Elon's point sounds fine until you see the follow up thread with the map. Not only did he support the Russian invasion (and therefore supports the slaughter of millions of civilians in the Ukraine), he also backed up his reasoning with a data plot map FROM 2012. And they're likely from geopolitical surveys, you know, the ones that nobody ever takes seriously and ignores in their spam email.

Mmmk, so to the untrained eye, Elon Musk is making the point that most Ukrainians support the Russian party… However, this ‘data’ is from over a decade ago and smells a bit like it's completely irrelevant to current political climate. Even the political science experts jump in on the thread to set the record straight.

Ian Bremmer, who has spent his entire life studying political sciences as it relates to global risk, pretty much tells Elon to stuff it and stick to what he knows. This is one tweet I can get behind. Leave the experts to speculate, the stoner CEO of a car company  can just keep his opinions private on matters outside his expertise.

So, once again, Elon Musk has made headlines for all the wrong reasons. Even the comments on his post are fired up about this. Elon is essentially using outdated information to speak for a community of people he has no connection to, making blanket statements about really important issues. Yeesh.
