Language acquisition is not known to be quickly accomplishable or straightforward. Most of us spend four years in a high school classroom fruitlessly trying to learn French, Spanish, or German, to completely forget everything we've learned in the weeks after graduating. I even took three semesters of Russian language courses in college, which may or may not have been because my favorite comedian at the time was a fluent Russian-speaking drag queen. For monolingual divas like me, foreign language education can appear to be a futile journey with no quick fix in sight. Luckily for those dead set on learning another language, Duolingo cuts out the middle man of a living, breathing teacher. In the meme world, Duolingo is most famous for its mascot, an owl named Duo, guilting and threatening users who skip out on a day of language practice. But Duo isn't the only member of the Duolingo family saying amusing things. The app itself often asks its users to formulate sentences that are nothing short of bizarre.
