Every day we read a post on the internet where someone comes and posts about an ordinary, everyday problem they're having. Except, maybe two or three times out of ten, the situation that this person is describing as ordinary is anything but. A lot of the time, these people are in potentially abusive, toxic, and harmful relationships and situations. With some of these posts, the people should really be looking for a way out as opposed to a way to solve the problem, and this post we saw today was no exception.
The person who posted for advice this week is a concerned mother to a very sweet, very smart twelve year old girl. The woman claims her daughter is her everything, but she also has recently brought a new fiancé into the mix. The man moved into Mom and Daughter's house, and he's helping with the rent (a bit), but not enough to act like he owns the place. Except, that's exactly what he started to do when he refused to let the daughter hang a picture of her dear, deceased dog Tic on the wall. This jerk even had the audacity to take the picture down, and yell at the girl while Mom was out of the house, telling her to keep it in her room or there would be consequences– never mind the fact that the daughter has lived there for much longer than he has! Thankfully, Mom turned to Reddit to figure out how to clear the air after the fight, and Reddit rightfully told her to just clear out instead. These commenters decisively said that t's time to decide whether she cares more about her daughter or this man, and it should not be a hard decision. See what we mean down below!
If anyone reading this has ever lost a pet, especially a pet that was with you in those incredibly formative years of your life, you know how hard this must be for this little girl. But, that's why we love what Mom did in order to make her daughter feel comfortable.
This whole relationship sounds pretty toxic, wouldn't you agree? The fiancé is trying to micromanage the daughter, and the Mother is taking revenge on her fiancé in their own, shared house. In this situation, yes, we feel like the fiancé is in the wrong. But, Mom is going to have to take a good, long look at her own actions after this as well.
