    Awww Puppy Friends

Font - We recently moved to a new area and have a new dog walker who we like, and my dog loves. On Sunday night our old neighbor asked us if we could watch her dog for the week because she wanted to take an impromptu trip. Her dog and ours have been best friends since they were puppies and we watch her all the time so we said yes immediately.

So here's the setup for what should've been an amazing day for both families, and both dogs. If this dog walker was as amazing as the family claims, they probably wouldn't have run into this issue. But, she must be pretending about something, because you're not going to believe what happens throughout the rest of this story.

    This Just Keeps Getting Weirder

Font - We told our walker that there would be another dog in the house on Tuesday morning but that she didn't need to walk her, just letting her into the backyard for a wee would be fine. She said she was uncomfortable without having met the dog so we asked her if she could come over Monday night to meet her (dog was being dropped off Monday afternoon). She agreed but never showed. She texted us Monday night asking us to crate the neighbors dog because she wasn't sure if the dog would like her.

There's a major red flag in the middle of this paragraph that we hope all of you are catching onto. This woman set up a meeting for Monday night and then completely blew off her hosts. That is showing absolutely zero respect for the other person's time. And, she's showing zero care for the well being of the dog to boot when she asks for them to be crated.

    We'd Be Upset Too

Font - We leave the house at 7am. Dog walker typically comes at noon. We hadn't heard anything and texted her at 2. She didn't respond til 4:45 and sent a long message about how both dogs were stressed and barking and what an unsafe situation we put her in. We started to worry because at this point neighbors dog had been crated all day and we have a long commute, normally home around 6. We asked her to clarify if she had let neighbors dog out, took her another hour to tell us that she didn't. My

Of Course She Wanted Sympathy Points

Font - Walker never responded to my husband's text but made a Fb post on our local buy nothing group (where we got her contact info) about how she needs an outlet for her anger and how people in the neighborhood had abused her safety at work. She got many many sympathetic comments and lots of comments about what a wonderful dog walker she is, and she is! Our dog loves her. Did we handle this wrong? We had no expectations of her walking the other dog and realize that we shouldn't have put it on h

    Extremely Unreliable

Font - The DrunkScientist Certified Proctologist [21] 5 days ago NTA. I get it. A new dog is thrown into the mix and she was understandably concerned. However, y'all arranged a meet and greet FOR HER COMFORT that she blew off. Y'all crated the dog at her request under the agreement she would let you know how it went when she got there. She did not follow through on that. In fact, she was MIA for HOURS. To the detriment of the poor crated dog. Ugh. Find a new dog walker. This one is unreliable. 1

    Communication Is Key

Font - Nuts tothis 5 days ago NTA - I'm a dog walker - I would have never left this poor dog in a crate and not tell the owners immediately that I wasn't able to help. Her actions were completely unprofessional. I would never want her as a dog walker. Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow 97

    So Unprofessional

Font - icedtea4all 5 days ago Certified Proctologist [29] Like you said, she should've at least sent a text that she didn't/couldn't let out the dog. You could've figured out a different plan instantly instead of having the dog wait. Then, you and your husband kept the instance between you and the walker. You didn't go online spreading stretched-truth stories in order to garner sympathy. How unprofessional. NTA! 84 Reply Give Award Share Report Save Follow

Take It From A Dog Walker

Font - Nolazoo 4 days ago NTA; I'm a dog walker, I've had this same situation happen more then once and you know what I did? Let the other dog (that I hadn't met) out to go potty. There was one time, that the additional dog was a nervous Nelly and I couldn't coax him out, so I text my client and let him know. Moving forward, if a dog walker/sitter ever asks you to crate a dog so they will feel comfortable, take that as a good indicator of how much they value the dogs comfort. I will never unders
