Clumsy Retriever Flops Down a Waterslide While a Graceful Corgi Leaps Into the Pool, Proving Loafs Can Sometimes Be Athletic

When you think of certain breeds of dogs, it's hard not to imagine the predispositions that come with it. For example, greyhounds are slim and muscular so it's only natural to imagine them running at speeds only a horse could reach. English Bulldogs are smooshie faced and low to the ground, like a meatball with legs, so it's not too crazy to imagine them stinking up the house with farts and being a jolly, silly mess in their water bowl.

Not dissimilarly, you think of golden retrievers and you imagine a flowing beautiful lions mane, regal and lean and ready for action. For a golden retriever, ball is life and they can always stay on their feet to catch their target. Well, at least usually. One golden retriever named Maui, @maui_thegoldenpup has thousands of followers that can watch him grow from a puppy into a beautiful adult boy. Maui has a doggo sibling that lives in the same house, a corgi named Ruby (@ruby_thecorgi) and she is a little nugget.

You'd think that between the two of them, Maui the golden would be the graceful one. Well, that's where this little loaf of bread, Ruby the corgi, steals the stage and proves everyone wrong. In their family pool, they have a built in water slide that is grotto-like and goes directly into the pool after a sharp bend. Ruby is dexterous and LOVES the slide. She slides down all day with no problem, launching like a little tatter tot torpedo off the end of the slide and into the pool.

Ruby is royalty

Ruby is undoubtedly a star. Meanwhile though, Maui the golden, the dog we all thought would be the athletic one, struggles to find his footing on the slippery slide and is clumsier than ever imagined. He gains speed immediately at the top of the slide, attempt to grab the edge to slow himself, then has his back paws careen out from under him, getting swept away by the current as he attempts to latch to the side of the slide. The more he struggles, the more his hind legs splay apart as his body flattens on the surface of the slide. Once he finally lets go, it's clear which dog is the masterful one when it comes to the pool's edge.

“Father help”

Regardless of their grace, stature, or implied athleticism, these two dogs steal the show and they both steal our hearts in their own derpy ways. So cute.
