We all like to know that we are going to get our money's worth, especially in these heady days of a cost of living crisis. When the only thing that doesn't seem to be increasing in price is Arizona Iced Tea, it's important to make sure we're not getting cheated with pretty much anything we buy. That being said, it's also important to not be a jerk about it. That cashier on minimum wage has no good reason to overcharge somebody on purpose — but they might just be given one if the customer happens to be annoying enough.
While u/rcam_tv didn't go this far in their job at a mom & pop general store, they did get the opportunity for petty revenge on a particularly difficult customer after they tried to do a generous deed. When a woman complained that she hadn't been given enough bait fish and insisted that they be counted in front of her, the employee did just that. Unfortunately for her, she lost out on getting a few extra fish.
The Redditors of r/MaliciousCompliance had their own tales to share of customers who had done themselves a disservice in a similar way. Sometimes, it's just better not to question things.
