Maternity and paternity leaves are the times that are meant to be spent taking care of your newborn baby and forming long-lasting relationships starting from birth. For first-time parents, it's also an opportunity to get in touch with their parental skills, and learn what works and what doesn't. While it's definitely a vacation from work, it't not supposed to be an actual vacation. That's why it's called maternity/paternity leave. It's about being a parent who is actually present in their baby's life. In today's 'Am I the A$$hole?' post, OP posted about how her boyfriend's mothersurprised him with tickets to Italy in honor of his paternity leave. OP was super confused because she thought that her husband was going to stay with her to take care of their newborn child.
