The great institution that is meme culture is a very sturdy one. With several decades of its modern iteration under its belt and literally thousands of ways in which we can make a meme, it's not a practice that is going anywhere any time soon. This is a good thing on many levels. For one, it keeps all those dedicated meme makers in a (poorly paid) job, and it keeps the rest of us entertained for the most part. The only thing that could threaten the whole shebang is if someone or something managed to switch off the internet some day, and even then, we'd probably find a way to work around it. Nevertheless, it's important to prepare for the worst by inhaling as many memes as we possibly can to recreate in this apocalyptic, worst case scenario. It's unthinkable that we might forget the importance of all these stupid little pictures.
