This mother of a five-week-old finally had it with her husband John, who kept scolding her for not having dinner cooked when he got home from work. No, this is not a story from the 1950s, this is still a thing in 2022.
This thread was posted on Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit by u/AITAexhaustedwife, who expressed frustration about the physical and emotional labor she has had to take on since giving birth. Cleaning the house during the day doesn't seem to be the issue; in fact, she described that as therapeutic for her. But the expectation of having dinner cooked for your spouse when they return from work is not only completely backwards, it's unrealistic, especially with a baby to take care of 24/7.
When John exploded one day after work, his wife cooked him dinner one final time. He clearly felt satisfied at having "won" this fight, but little did he know, u/AITAexhaustedwife would be spending her nights from then on at her Mom's place and would not be cooking dinner for John any time soon. Of course, John is still whining about how his wife is leaving him to starve…you know, because a true man-child like John doesn't seem to have the ability to turn on the stove himself or throw something in the microwave or press the button on his laptop to order in food for delivery. Let's all pray for John, everyone. This is a difficult time for him.
We've seen other stories about folks like John before. This groom, for instance, canceled all the vegan options for his wedding (despite his wife being, well, vegan) behind her back.
