People on the internet can be quite harsh critics, especially when it comes to things that they deeply love - like cats. And we mean big cats and small cats. Now, there are some cat animations that people online seem to be on the page about - like the video game 'stray' that came out a while back, where the player gets to experience a post-apocalyptic world through the perspective of a cat. It's quite realistic. You can knock stuff off shelves, you can scratch surfaces, you can rub up against other characters' legs. It's so realistic that even real cats seem to get fooled by the game.
But… when it comes to other animations of cats - like the live action 'The Lion King'… yeah, the internet is divided. Should the big cats have been more photographically realistic? Less? The lion cubs were very cute in the movie, we're pretty sure everyone agrees on that, but when it comes to everything else, people have so much to say about it that when this one tweet went viral, it went viral enough to go into trending. What do you guys think?
Well, there is certainly a major difference between the two, that's unenviable. And we kind of understand the anger. It seems that most people neither expected nor wanted for this movie to be realistic. The Lion King was never a realistic movie in the sense of how it looked - it was realistic about the message and the experiences of the characters. So, seeing it this way seems to have made people believe that it lacked the emotional aspect as a whole.
But you know what, not everything is bad. At the very least, the virality of this tweet certainly made people make some funny memes about it. There's a bright side to everything. If we, in the cat fandom, managed to survive Cats way back when, we'll certainly get through this. And we'll get through it with the help of memes.
