Although most of the time we've noticed mother cats having extremely strong motherly instincts when it comes to their newborns, it's hard to know if they will take in a foreign cat in the same way. You hope that the two will connect, but it's impossible to know 100%. That's why this rescue story is such an uplifting one. A lovely tiny kitten was found on someone's doorstep and documented by the TikTok account @catsofsanbernardino. The kitten was so small they weren't sure if she was even going to make it, regardless of whether their mother cat was able to accept her as one of her own. But spoiler alert, things go swimmingly and we wouldn't have it any other way.
The TikTok account shared the whole process, as well as an update. We're thrilled to share it with you today. Once you lay eyes on little April it's hard not to fall in love.

New Rescue Alert! We just took in this tiny little bottle baby that was dumped on someone's front door. We are going to introduce her to Mama Splinter in hopes that she will take her in as her own 🤞We have named her April. Stay tuned for updates
Everybody was eagerly waiting for an update on this tiny kitten and thankfully @catsofsanbernardino quickly delivered.

April Update! We got home and immediately introduced April to Mama Splinter and her Turtles. Splinter immediately accepted her as her own and offered her bathing services 😅She is about a third of the size of the other babies despite being about the same age. Unfortunately, April wasn't able to latch onto Mama and was having a hard time locating the nipple. We stayed up all night bottle-feeding her and making sure she was alright. We would rotate her out every hour and a half from being with Mom for comfort and being with us to eat and be stimulated. We got to let out a huge sigh of relief at about 8 am this morning when April was strong enough to latch onto Mama all on her own ❤️We are hopeful for this little runt and so thankful to Mama Splinter for taking her. She is such an amazing Mom.
Everyone is thrilled to see that April was accepted. Yay for motherly insticts.
