Woman unhappy with uncounted fish, demands employee count them out, gets less fish

I can't quite put a finger on it —but there has to be some cliche that fits here, something that you might find as the overly distilled moral of a children's story. 

Ok —let's try one: “Count not the bag of fish; lest ye be counted out.” How's that? Just winging it here… but there has gotta be some obvious cliche that I'm missing. 

Whatever the cliche or moral here, this remains a fact: Never challenge someone who gets paid hourly to complete a time-consuming task. Each and every time, they will be more than happy to oblige you. They're getting paid to count your fish, whereas you— are not.
