Font - r/antiwork. Posted by u/acfreeman 94 23 hours ago S Nuked an interview because "nobody wants to work anymore". I had an interview at a paper plant. After burning up 2 good hours on my day off sitting through the guy's entire pitch he hit me with the immortal line.

Font - He asks "it seems like nowadays nobody wants to work anymore, what makes you want to work here." He had already said some questionable she earlier in the interview/tour, and a lot of red flags were going off. One of them was the fact that the fire alarm went off because there was so much dust in the air, and the biggest one being that he lied on the job posting about the pay and was only offering $18/hour when I was actively working a job that was paying me $32/hour.

Font - So I mentally threw my hands up decided to just tank the interview. I asked if he would do the job that I was interviewing for for $500,000 a year, of course he said yes. I asked him if he would have more people to interview if the job was listed at $500,000 a year, he said "probably". I say "so it's probably not that people don't want to work this job, but more that people don't want to work this job at this price."

Font - Honestly he looked bewildered and just muttered "so I take it you aren't interested in the job?" I said that I would openly accept the position for $35/hour got up, shook his hand, and walked out.

Font - I essentially gave him an F you and expected to never hear from him again, but the guy has the audacity to call me a few days later and tell me that he got the ok from his boss to hire me at a whole $20/hour. I laughed, thanked him for the opportunity and said no thank you. Tl;dr: set the interview on fire somehow get offered the job still.

Font - Syreeta5036 20 hr. ago Honestly, you could have worked there for like 3 days then rolled in and asked for a promotion, then quit on the spot if they didn't promote you, THEN go to your current employer and tell them you took the three days off to work somewhere else just because you wanted to try it out. And if you want to go do maximum risk you could lean in and twirl your finger into your bosses hair and say "you shoulda seen it" but that has a huge HR complaint risk and high chance of

Font - atticcheese 23 hr. ago I was at a union paper mill for a while where they paid $24/hr ten years ago. Now that we know what can happen to demand for toilet paper it should be more like $50/hr today. 551 Reply Share

Font - acfreeman 94 OP. 22 hr. ago It was insulting low. Especially since on the posting the job was listed at $30/hour. No union, dust up to an inch on the floor, welding tables without fume hoods, it was a god demn nightmare. 338 Reply Share

Font - HILOWROW. 22 hr. ago Definitely leave a review on the hiring site. Make it very clear that they are lying about the starting wage to get people in interviews.

Font - chaiguy 21 hr. ago We really need protection from this bullsh bait & switch. It should be patently illegal to advertise a job at one pay rate and then LOWER it during the interview.
