We always talk about adoption being one of the most beautiful and heartwarming things one can experience. We talk about the time, effort, patience, and dedication it requires. Most of the time, the adopted pets in question have gone through some serious trauma, be it physical or emotional. When adopting a pet, one has to be ready to encounter post-traumatic behaviors and be ready to deal with them. All cats are different, just like their experiences. So each and everyone one requires its own unique approach. For some cats, it could take weeks for them to feel safe and warm up to you. For others, it could be years.
But what about the cats that do the adopting themselves? Some have no choice but to trust that random hooman on the street and hope for the best; that they'll take them in and care for them. Welp, we recently stumbled upon a heartwarming Twitter thread where cats were lucky enough to adopt hoomans of their own. Some knocked on doors, others walked in on their own, and some flat-out broke into the house. Regardless of how they got in, all that matters is that they're safe now. Have a look for yourself, we hope you enjoy!
"Our cat legitimately knocked on the door! He rapped his little paw on our front door at 8pm. Terrifying lol He was only 8 months old. He was apparently abandoned by our neighbors across the street when they moved."
We're so grateful that the world is filled with amazing hooman beings like Kerry right here. Thank you for taking him in!
"My cat did that, broke into my home and then refused to leave, about 3 years ago. We don't own him, he owns us."
Yup, sounds like a classic cat to us. Illegal break-in? Check. 0 remorse about it? Check. God complex? check.
