Rescue Kitties of Hawaii (RKH) stepped in to manage the care of the young cat, now named Ocean. They had to act quickly. Ocean had three major fractures on the lower portion of his body, all causing severe pain. RKH only had days the raise $3,000 for the surgeries and post-surgical follow-ups. If they didn't, he would have to be euthanized.

Ocean did come down with a very high fever a few days after surgery, and fluid began to his surgical sites. His foster family rushed him to the emergency veterinarian, where he remained in critical care. Veterinarians worked tirelessly to ensure Ocean wasn't going septic from his post-op complications.

RKH was worried they wouldn't be able to cover Ocean's emergency stay such a short time after expensive surgeries, but their devoted network rose to the challenge again to fundraise nearly $2,000 to help pay for his hospitalization for at least a week.
