Font - Nerdy_Squirrel • 13h I was fired for a no call, no show once (I had a flat tire and had to walk half way so was over an hour late). It's an automatic denial of unemployment. You have to fight to get it, so OP needs to make sure these texts are saved because it sounds like this employer is trying to screw him. 4293

Font - Ghost Hin. 12h at work It was not a no call no show when the OP wasn't scheduled. The manager asked OP to come in on their day off and they refused. 110% not a no call no show. 4171

Font - pretenderist. 10h It's not "no call" because OP told them in advance, and it's not "no show" because the shift hadn't even happened before he was fired for it. Total BS ... 99

Font - British FoSho • 19h What is this (I'm assuming an American term) "to get unemployment"? I assume it would be some kind of benefit, however, do people who are not fired, and quit on their own free will then not entitled to help? Can someone explain it to me please ... 225

Font - Disastrous_Drive_764 • 19h Yeah unemployment is basically jobless benefits that we pay into & we're only eligible for if we're fired/laid off (and even then sometimes an employer will dispute it). If we up & quit a job you're generally not eligible. Although don't quote me on it, I haven't used the benefit in a long time. Don't remember all the rules. 4279 ...

Font - NarrowAd4973. 18h Each state has its own rules as well. In mine you pretty much have to quit, or be fired for something that could get you arrested (assault, theft, vandalism for example) to be denied unemployment. We were discussing this at my previous job.

Font - As an example of the employer disputing the claim, a job my mother worked at in the 90's started laying people off (not long before it went out of business). I know my mother was involved in payroll, but don't recall what else beyond that. They laid off the receptionist, and demanded my mother handle the phones. She refused, so they laid her off, then tried to claim her refusal to do the receptionist's job constituted quitting. Unemployment disagreed. ... 189

Font - dave_a86 18h You can tell the boss throws around the threat of "no call no show" so often that they've forgotten what the term actually means. No call no show means they didn't turn up to their shift (no show) and didn't advise that they weren't coming in (no call). The shift hasn't happened yet and they could still turn up, so no show doesn't apply. Their notice of termination was a direct reply to them saying they weren't coming in so the no call doesn't apply either. Reply 209

Font - stnkybuttfacejr . 20h When I was a kid I had 2 jobs I worked in the meat cutting department at a Shaw's with enough hours to give me some benefits and I worked part time at a McDonald's and I told them McDonald's manager that the 1st job was gonna be my priority because it gave me some benefits and she hired me because she was desperate for help and said OK. I think it was literally like not more than a month and a 1/2 she fired me over scheduling conflict lol. These people have no shame

Font - DrMike27 • 22h This is totally your brother's fault. You know that, right? He totally should be able to understand that a scheduling mishap by a manager is just 100% not the manager's fault and it's on your brother to check the schedule for errors in everyone's schedule... Sorry, I can't mental gymnastics my way into finding a reason your brother is at fault. If you can't treat your employees like human beings and blame them for your mistakes as a manager then you deserve all the shit sto
