My mom is one of those people who goes absolutely crazy for Christmas. After Thanksgiving, she starts rifling through storage boxes for her incredible collection of Christmas ornaments. She puts up the ancestral advent calendar (made of felt, of course) and spends her evenings piercing oranges with whole cloves to create pomanders. She laboriously strings cranberries into garlands, which she then drapes around the Christmas tree and her cozy home's exterior. Naturally, she demands only the finest Christmas tunes to be playing as she goes about these rituals. Nat King Cole is a favorite. If any of her sullen children roll their eyes at her glee or opt out of some of the festivities, she accuses us of being Grinches. Which, after years of contemplation, I've decided is a bit of an unfair insult.
It's my believe that the Grinch is simply misunderstood. And the proof is out there. After years of working in the meme world, I've found myself relating to introverted and even straight-up misanthropic Grinch memes more times than I can count. So here is our argument, in the form of a meme gallery, that the Grinch is unfairly maligned and someone we might actually want to have friends with. After all, he's not wrong: people suck.
