A Slick Lick of Memes to Paint Over the Cracks

Memes may be great, but there are limits to their powers. They aren't going to bring your parents' marriage back together, or magically hand you a nice Christmas bonus. Generally speaking, they reflect back to us all the ills of the world, rather than making them all better. Still, though, we come to them when we want to be comforted. When the harsh truth of everything is put in a kind of funny way, it's hard to feel too bad about it. That, or it's almost nice to laugh through the pain.

Whatever our reason to keep returning to memes, something that is definitely within our capabilities is to give us some welcome distraction. Perhaps we shouldn't be seeking that out so much, but that's a problem for later us. In the meantime, we can just relax our brains and strain our eyes. This is totally how human beings were supposed to live all the time.
