‘Your Job Is Just a Hobby’: Wife Tells Husband to Quit Job So That She Can Spend Even Less Time With Her Daughter

When it comes to raising children, there are many things to take into account. It's no secret that being a parent is tough. Before you and your partner make that big decision to bring a child into this (damned) world, you need to take a lot of things into consideration and commit to making a lot of difficult decisions, especially regarding who spends what time with the child, and what the impact of having one will have on your career. The focus shifts, whether voluntarily or involuntarily once you have a kid, and everything you do will affect their upbringing.

You might bump into some minor conflicts with your partner when making said decisions because it just so happens that not every human has the same perspective on the division of household labor — especially when it involves giving up some time you would normally spend on your career. We happened across a story on Reddit that may have annoyed us a little, and we thought we'd share. A woman took to the AITA subreddit to ask if she was the AH after telling her husband, who enjoyed his job very much even though it didn't bring too much money in, that he should give up on it as it was just a ‘hobby’ so that she could spend more time focusing on her career.

Scroll down to read about the audacity.

No wonder he's barely talking to her, we wouldn't be able to look in her direction after such blatant rudeness. He is the primary caretaker of their daughter, while she barely acts as a parent, and dares to tell him that he shouldn't be working at his job because it's ‘impractical’ and just a ‘hobby’? One of the things that bring joy to his otherwise busy life? We call BS. Leave the poor man alone, and hire more help if you can afford to pay for it, as you so made clear!

The commenters went off on the Redditer, and she definitely had it coming.

She should get her priorities straight. As some commenters stated, she made a choice about her career and now she has to deal with it. Its unnecessarily unkind to drag her husband, who is doing so much anyway, into the equation. We hope she learned her lesson.
