Weekly Internet Roundup: Liver King is Fake, Pilk is Real, and Ye Just Gets Worse

Hello again, and welcome to another summary of a handful of the more amusing or demented things that have made an impact on social media over the past few days. Just like usual, there have been plenty of them. So, without further ado, here are a handful of the internet main characters this week. If weird food and weirder celebrities fascinate you, you're in for a treat.

Super Jacked Influencer Takes Steroids? Impossible!

If Freaky Eaters has taught us anything, it's that there is something bleakly fascinating about extreme diets. We love to watch people consume things that look gross, and it's even better when they're trying to convince us to do it to. Such is the ethos of the Liver King, who promises his many followers that if they chow down on raw organs and buy his supplements, they can be the healthiest they've ever been. More importantly, they will get to look as pumped and uber masculine as he does all the time.

To the surprise of not very many, it has recently been revealed that this hard sell has been built on a lie. YouTuber More Plates More Dates publicized leaked emails from the King himself that showed he took $11.5k a month of HGH, not to mention countless other steroids. In other news, Instagram models use filters, and water is wet.

Ye is Even More Nuclear Grade Cancelled 

For a while now, Kanye West has been on a mission to rebrand as the biggest A-list antisemite. Now, it is all but confirmed. The scorned celebrity completed his fall from grace with a bang after he appeared on Infowars, and almost managed to make Alex Jones look reasonable. 

Stating “I like Hitler”, and using some twisted logic to justify the statement, he successfully managed to kill off most of the goodwill he still had remaining by going on to post a swastika to Twitter. Even the r/Kanye subreddit began to disavow its namesake, first claiming to be dedicated to Taylor Swift, then to Holocaust awareness. It's unlikely that there is any coming back from this.

Pepsi Makes Pilk the Official Drink of Christmas

It's official: cursed food is mainstream now. After years of relevance-hungry brands chasing the social media bag, one of them has decided to embrace meme culture's perverted desire to champion and consume the inedible. As part of their Christmas campaign, Pepsi has done the unthinkable by promoting Pilk, a mixture of their flagship beverage and milk that is part of meme legend.

In a pair of ads fronted by Lindsay Lohan, it was suggested that Pilk and cookies made for the ideal festive snack. Social media was less sure of this, and people were also pretty annoyed that this sacred drink had been taken from its humble origins and commodified. It's fair to say that most would need the Pepsi to be mixed with something stronger to consume this.

We're Still Paying Attention to Elon Musk, Unfortunately

We might be able to celebrate the fact that Twitter is still standing, but the downside is that we have to pay attention to everything its infamous owner does on it and with it. Even by Elongated Muskrat standards, he has inspired plenty of antics this week. 

First of all, he riled ex-wife Justine Musk when he used the claim that their infant son had died in his arms as an argument for not allowing Alex Jones his account back. According to Justine, it was her that had been holding him, and she considered it “one of the most sacred and defining moments of [her] life”. 

Hot on the heels of that was his tirade against Apple, where Musk criticized the tech giant for curbing ad spending, and claimed they considering removing Twitter from the App store (which turned out to be untrue). 

For a little light relief, Musk decided to post a photo of his cluttered bedside, and its strange contents was quickly memed to oblivion.

Then, to top it all off, a particularly unholy crossover of internet current affairs found Musk forced to take Ye off his platform thanks to his antisemitic actions. The whole ‘free speech at all costs’ thing is clearly working out just fine.
