'This is a tale of tragedy, treachery, suspense, and triumph': Office security camera footage reveals dramatic secrets of a stolen lunch

Office drama is sometimes the only thing keeping people from spontaneously quitting their jobs and fleeing the workplace. The intriguing pettiness of workplace gossip is almost always passive aggressive, toxic, and downright ridiculous because your coworkers are people you spend literally ⅓ of your life with. Eight hours a day spent with people you passably tolerate is a recipe for some disastrous events. One man named Zak Toscani, a Twitter comedian and reporter of tea, recalls a story where workplace drama came to a head and some of his coworkers got put in their place. The mystery of the stolen shrimp fried rice got solved the second the office manager allowed everyone to weigh in and watch the security camera footage.

When one of Zak's coworkers had accused someone in the office of stealing her lunch, the team was up in arms. Behind the veil of finger pointing, name calling, and general hatred circling around the cubicles, there was a lie being told.

Zak lays down the scene: one day, the culprit in question stole and allegedly consumed a desirable lunch from the fridge, leaving their coworker and comrade without sustenance and out for vengeance.

After watching the security footage, Zak was appalled to learn the truth about the culprit. His neighboring coworkers were apparently dueling over the food in the fridge and he didn't even know it!

Confusingly enough, the lunch was never actually eaten. The culprit simply stole the goods and threw it away. The crime does not match the punishment here, so Zak dove deeper.

The thief obviously had no clue that she was the one HR was questioning in their company wide email. Maybe she just thought that the food in the fridge was her old lunch from the day before and simply threw it out. Either way, you think you'd learn to recognize your tupperwares from your coworker's.
